Accessibility
The interface supports keyboard use, visible focus, skip to main content, and reduced motion. Issues are verified and corrected continuously.
The aim
PrivatArkiv should be usable by everyone, with a keyboard, with a screen reader, and with the settings you have chosen on your device.
This describes how we work, not a claim that everything is faultless. Shortcomings are verified and fixed as they are found.
The standard
WCAG 2.1 level AA is the floor we measure against. It applies to every page, including sign-in, administration and help.
The requirement is part of the gate each page has to pass. A page without verified keyboard use and visible focus does not count as finished.
Keyboard and focus
Anything that can be done with a mouse can be done with a keyboard. Focus is visible throughout, and there is a link at the very top to skip straight to the main content.
Dialogs and drawers keep focus inside while open, close with Escape, and give focus back to where you came from. That includes the help and every confirmation before something is deleted.
Screen readers
The pages use semantic HTML: headings in order, lists as lists, and form fields tied to their label.
Icons and images carry text from the database in your language. Required fields are marked with a word, not only a star. Status messages are announced when they arrive.
Motion
If you have asked your device for reduced motion, that is respected. Drawers and dialogs then open without animation.
Nothing in the interface flashes, scrolls by itself or moves while you are reading.
Colour and mode
Light and dark mode are both complete. You can also let the device decide.
Colour is never used alone to say something that matters. An error, a warning or a destructive action always has text and shape as well as colour.
Known limits
You can create archive items with or without photos. To add photos, use the camera or choose image files. Encryption and any image recognition happen on your device. On older devices this may take noticeably longer. Progress is shown as it goes.
Tell us
If you meet something that does not work with a keyboard or a screen reader, that is a fault we want to know about.
Report it to privat@lexico.no. If the address is not published yet, report it to whoever operates the installation.
